Alright, if you're looking to put the front axle back together at the wheel reduction hub on your Landini Powerfarm 85, here’s the general idea — assuming it’s a Carraro axle (which most of these have):
-
Prep everything clean — Degrease the hub housing, axle stubs, and reduction gears. Inspect bearings and seals. If they’re even slightly worn, swap them out now.
-
Fit the wheel reduction gears into the housing. Grease lightly and make sure everything meshes cleanly. Sometimes there are shims for backlash — keep them where they were, or refer to spec if unsure.
-
Slide the axle shaft into place carefully, guiding it through the reduction gears. You may need to turn it slightly to align splines.
-
Install bearings and races on both ends, then secure the stub axle with the proper circlips or retaining plates.
-
Seal it up with new gaskets or RTV if needed, and press in the oil seals. Make sure they're flush — a cocked seal = slow death.
-
Torque everything down as per spec. If you don’t have the torque chart, we recommend checking the full service manual — that’ll give you the proper numbers and tightening sequence.
I’d highly recommend grabbing the full Landini Powerfarm service manual — it’ll have exploded diagrams and proper torque specs for every bolt in that assembly. Makes the job a whole lot easier, especially if this is your first time opening the front end 👍🏻
