Reduced fuel flow to the carb on a Honda GX200 usually comes down to one of a few common issues. Nothing too wild, but worth checking step by step.
First thing I’d look at is the fuel tank outlet and fuel line. Sometimes old fuel or debris clogs the screen inside the tank or the line itself gets pinched or gummed up. Pull the line off the carb and see if fuel flows freely when you open the valve (if not, start back at the tank).
Next up, check the fuel filter, if there’s one in-line. Even a little blockage can restrict flow enough to cause hesitation or hard starting.
If fuel’s getting to the carb but still not running right, the issue’s probably inside the carb itself. The tiny jets or passages can clog up with varnish from old fuel, especially if it sat a while. You can try draining the bowl and cleaning the jet with carb cleaner and a fine wire.
Also worth checking: make sure the fuel cap vent isn’t clogged. If it is, it can create vacuum in the tank and slow or stop fuel flow completely.
Luckily, the OEM manual walks through fuel system troubleshooting and carb servicing if you want to tear into it properly.
