Yes, this manual has a full section dedicated to clutch and brake adjustment. These small dozers use mechanical steering clutches and brake bands inside each final drive, and keeping them properly adjusted is key to making sure it steers and stops like it should.
The manual explains how to:
-
Adjust the free play in the steering levers
-
Set the correct tension on the brake bands
-
Fine-tune the steering clutches so they engage and disengage evenly
-
And it gives you all the clearance specs and procedures to check wear if you’re starting to lose brake bite or steering power.
If your machine is pulling to one side or feels sluggish when turning, or if the levers have too much play, it’s a good sign the clutch and brake adjustments are overdue. You’ll need to pop open the access plates behind the operator’s seat to get to the linkage.
It's nothing too crazy, but definitely easier if you have the manual to reference while you're in there.
Good luck!
