On a 1994 Volkswagen LT35 with the 2.4L diesel (often the "Hi-Torq" engine), the diesel injection pump is a mechanical inline or rotary pump mounted on the driver’s side of the engine, toward the front, and driven by the timing belt (or timing gears, depending on the exact engine code).
If you're looking at the engine from the front of the van:
-
The pump sits just below the intake manifold, bolted to the side of the block.
-
It’s connected to the injector lines which run to each cylinder.
-
You’ll also see throttle and cold-start cables attached to it if it’s the Bosch VE rotary type.
