The oil filter on the XA10 RAV4 is located on the back side of the engine block, near the firewall, on the passenger side.
If you have the 2.0L 3S-FE engine, you’ll find it tucked in a tight spot just above the exhaust manifold. It’s a little awkward to reach from above, so I usually go from underneath the car, reaching up near the passenger-side driveshaft. If you’re using an oil filter wrench, one of the claw-style filter wrenches works best since space is limited.
When replacing it, make sure to lubricate the new filter’s rubber gasket with fresh oil before installing, and don’t overtighten it. Just snug it up hand-tight, and give it about a quarter turn more — and that's it. Should be good to go by then 👍🏻
