Oh, yeah, that cam-handle on the Aficio 2022 can be a bit of a pain when it starts acting up. If it's not locking right or feels loose, chances are the little cam mechanism inside has either worn out or slipped out of place. I ran into this once, and in my case, the plastic bit that actually does the locking had cracked a bit — not enough to fall off, but just enough to stop doing its job.
You’ll probably need to pop off the side panel — just a few screws — and get a look at the cam and the shaft it turns on. Sometimes it's just the clip or spring that's shifted, and putting it back into position fixes everything. Other times, if the cam itself is damaged, you'll need to swap the part. If you’ve got the service manual, it should show you exactly how that assembly goes together, and the parts catalog in there should help you figure out what to order if something’s busted.
