Yeah, I’ve put these together before, and it’s pretty straightforward as long as you keep everything clean and properly torqued. The front stub axle is part of the 4WD system, connecting the CV axle to the hub. If you’re replacing or reassembling it, here’s what you need to do.
Start by greasing the splines on the stub axle — this helps it slide into the CV joint smoothly and prevents future seizing. Then, line up the splines and carefully insert the stub axle into the differential or hub assembly (depending on which side you're working on). If it doesn’t slide in easily, a light tap with a rubber mallet usually helps.
Once seated, install the retaining clip or snap ring to lock it in place. If your setup uses a bearing or seal, make sure it’s properly aligned and seated before tightening everything down.
And when it's time for bolting everything back together, torque the axle nut and any mounting bolts to spec — this is important to avoid excessive play or premature wear. Luckily, all the manufacturer's given torque specs can be found in this manual software (as well as the complete step-by-step procedure for this task 😉)
After assembly, rotate the hub to make sure everything spins freely and check for any binding.
Give it a go and I wish you great luck!
