The clutch on a Ford 6610 sits between the engine and transmission, so the tractor has to be split at the bellhousing to access it. It's a bit of a work, but totally doable with some patience and the right setup.
Start by disconnecting the battery, then remove the hood, fuel tank, and anything else in the way, like wiring, linkages, and hydraulics that run across the split point. Support the rear section with jack stands and the front with a rolling jack or splitting stand — you’ll need to roll the front away once it’s unbolted.
Once you split the tractor, you’ll see the clutch assembly right on the flywheel. Remove the old pressure plate and clutch disc, inspect the flywheel for scoring or wear, and replace or resurface it if needed.
When installing the new clutch, use a clutch alignment tool to line up the disc perfectly with the pilot bearing. Then bolt the pressure plate in evenly, a little at a time, so it pulls down square. Once everything’s in place, carefully roll the tractor halves back together, making sure the input shaft slips cleanly into the clutch.
Bolt it all back up, reattach your lines and linkages, and you’re good to go. Don’t forget to adjust the clutch pedal free play once it’s back together — makes a big difference in feel and longevity.
While it may seem complicated, it won't feel like it once you got the hang of this manual tho. It covers the clutch replacement process step-by-step, complete with clear images, and exploded-view illustrations. If you plan on doing it yourself, getting the manual is definitely a no-brainer!
Good luck!
