Swapping the fuel pump on the Kawasaki KRF800 is pretty straightforward since it’s inside the fuel tank under the seat.
First, disconnect the battery to avoid any sparks while working around fuel. Then, remove the seat and access panel to get to the fuel pump assembly. You’ll see the fuel lines and electrical connector — disconnect those carefully and watch out for any pressure in the lines.
Next, remove the retaining ring or bolts securing the pump and pull the entire assembly out of the tank. The fuel pump is part of a module, so if you’re just replacing the pump itself, you’ll need to separate it from the assembly, swap in the new one, and reinstall everything.
Just make sure the new pump is seated properly, reconnect everything, and cycle the key a few times before starting to let the system build pressure. If it doesn’t prime, double-check your connections.
That said, doing it yourself means you really want to avoid making those DIY-able mistakes. You'll need the exact torque specs, fuel pressure values, and that's where this manual would come in handy. Might as well grab it and get the job done on the first try 😉
