The Chevy 327 small-block engine in a Nova has a standard (clockwise) rotation when looking at it from the front of the engine. That means if you're turning the crankshaft pulley by hand while standing in front of the car, it should rotate clockwise.
This is the same for most Chevy small-block and big-block V8s unless you’re dealing with a marine engine or something custom-built. If you're checking timing or working on the starter, just remember the distributor also rotates clockwise.
