If the Toyota Corolla has a weakness, it’s that it prioritizes reliability over excitement. Don’t get me wrong—it’s a fantastic car, but if you’re looking for thrilling performance or cutting-edge features, the Corolla can feel a bit plain.
From a maintenance perspective, older models can sometimes have issues with oil consumption, particularly the 1.8L engines in certain years. Suspension components, like struts and bushings, also tend to wear out faster if you’re driving on rough roads a lot.
That said, these “weaknesses” are pretty minor, and they don’t take away from the fact that the Corolla is one of the most dependable cars on the road. Just don’t expect it to blow your socks off with speed or luxury—it’s built for practicality, not flash.
