Honestly, as long as you take care of it, it’ll probably outlast you. I’ve seen some 60 Series still kicking after 400,000 miles, and the 80 Series? Man, those things are tanks if you keep up with the basics.
Now, the newer ones like the 100 and 200 Series are a bit fancier, with all the electronics and air suspension. Great rigs, but you gotta baby them a little more. If something electronic goes haywire, it ain’t cheap to fix. But the V8s in those are solid—they’ll keep running if you just keep feeding ’em oil and doing your maintenance.
And the 300 Series is too fresh to call, but Toyota’s track record says they’ll last, no doubt about it.
Point is, whether it’s an old-school 40 Series or a plush 200 Series, a Land Cruiser’s life comes down to how you treat it. Neglect it, and it’ll let you down. Take care of it, and it’ll probably be driving your grandkids around someday. These things are built to go forever—if you’re willing to put in the work.
