Service manual, repair manual, workshop manual—honestly, they’re all the same thing, just called differently. The terms get used interchangeably, and they all refer to the same type of manual that covers everything from basic maintenance to full-on repairs.
There’s really no such thing as a manual that’s only for “service” and another for “repairs.” They’re all meant to guide you through both. You might also hear them called “shop manuals,” but again, it’s just another name for the same thing.
The only real distinction is between these service/repair manuals and owner’s manuals. Owner’s manuals are what come with your car when you buy it, and they cover basics like how to use the features, check fluids, and maintain the vehicle. Service/repair manuals are way more detailed and are what you need if you’re planning to do serious work on your car.
