For Peugeots, I’d go with a manual gearbox—they’re reliable, give you more control, and are easier to maintain. Automatics, especially the newer EAT8, are great for comfort if you’re driving something like a 508, but older automatics weren’t the smoothest.
As for drivetrains, most Peugeots are front-wheel drive, which works perfectly for everyday use. If you need a bit more grip, the Grip Control system on their SUVs can handle light off-roading, but it’s not true all-wheel drive.
In short, manual and FWD is my pick—simple, reliable, and cost-effective.
