If you ask me, the best transmission for an Audi has got to be the dual-clutch automatic, or S-Tronic as they call it. It strikes the perfect balance between performance and daily usability. You get lightning-fast gear changes, almost like a manual, but with the convenience of an automatic. It’s a dream for anyone who loves spirited driving but doesn’t want the hassle of a clutch pedal in stop-and-go traffic.
That said, if you're a die-hard driving enthusiast, you might argue for the six-speed manual on certain older models like the S4 or TT. There's nothing quite like the engagement of rowing through the gears yourself. Manuals might be rare in Audi’s lineup these days, but they have a loyal following for a reason.
As for CVTs (continuously variable transmissions) found in some of their lower-powered models, well... they’re efficient and smooth, but they’re not exactly thrilling. If driving pleasure is your priority, stick to the S-Tronic or manual setups—they really bring out the best in Audi’s engineering.
