To reset the MMI (Multi Media Interface) system on your Audi A6 C7, follow these steps:
Soft Reset (Quick Restart)-
Turn on the Ignition:
- Ensure that the ignition is turned on, but the engine doesn't need to be running.
-
Press the Reset Button Combination:
- Simultaneously press and hold the following three buttons:
- MENU button (or CAR button, depending on your MMI version)
- Rotary control xxxx (center dial)
- Upper-right corner button (usually the button just above and to the right of the rotary control xxxx )
- Hold all three buttons down for about 10-15 seconds.
- Simultaneously press and hold the following three buttons:
-
Wait for the MMI to Reboot:
- The MMI screen will go black and then restart. Once the Audi logo appears, you can release the buttons. The system will reboot, and the MMI should reset.
-
Turn off the Ignition:
- Turn off the ignition and remove the key from the car.
-
Disconnect the Battery (Optional):
- If a soft reset doesn't solve the issue, you can try disconnecting the battery for about 10-15 minutes to fully reset the system. After reconnecting the battery, the MMI will reboot, and any minor glitches may be resolved.
- Note: Disconnecting the battery may also reset other systems in the car, so it’s best used as a last resort.
- Soft Reset: This method is safe and won’t erase any of your settings or data.
- Hard Reset: Use caution if you decide to disconnect the battery, as this may reset more than just the MMI system.
If you continue to experience issues after attempting these resets, consulting your vehicle’s repair manual for further diagnostics might be necessary. The manual can provide detailed troubleshooting steps and additional options for resolving MMI-related problems.
