Where cylinder #5 is located would depend on the engine model, and since the W211 was made available with about 15 different engines in various markets, the answer can differ greatly from model to model.
Still, as a general rule, Mercedes-Benz numbers cylinders successively, one head after the other, starting with the head closest to the front of the engine. On the OM628 V8 engine, for instance, Bank 1 (right) is cylinder #1-2-3-4, while Bank 2 (left) is cylinder #5-6-7-8. In this case, cylinder #5 would then be the first cylinder on the left head. Obviously, the answer would differ on a 4-cylinder or a V10 engine, but the principle is the same.
