It depends — Johnson/Evinrude carburetors use 3 different types of choke systems:
- heat/electric combination choke;
- all-electric choke
- water choke
In all cases, the instructions to remove, disassemble, service, and re-install the 3 types of chokes are covered in this 1958-1972 Johnson Evinrude 50HP-125HP Outboard Service & Repair Manual.
