Unfortunately, I would highly doubt it...
The 1986 BMW 528e came with a 2.7L M20 engine while the 1988 BMW 535i was offered with a 3.4L M30 engine. While both engines are quite similar and may fit relatively bolt-on, they are both equipped with different sensors, modules, actuators, etc. It's very unlikely that the 535i's wiring harness could be modified to fit the M30 engine.
As a general rule, when swapping a different engine than what was originally installed, the safest bet is to use the donor car's wiring harness, ECU, and all, and install everything on the receiver car instead.
