CT200
The Honda CT200 was initially sold to the fisherman and hunter market there was an optional gun holder for this bike in the US between 1964 and 1968 as a genuine Honda accessory.
Extra features included off-road tires, large rear carrying rack, a non-sparking exhaust can, and 2 sets of sprockets on the rear wheel. The engines in the Honda CT200's have been known to be a tad rattly; however, the engines are pretty much indestructible and usually go on forever. The Honda Trail 90 CT200 was sold 1964-66. The chrome luggage rack behind the seat was standard. There was a solo seat with chrome trim. On the 4-speed version, there was a dual overlay rear sprocket setup. Instead of telescopic fork tubes, the front suspension used a bottom link. The engine was an 87cc OHV single-cylinder with a 4-speed transmission and automatic clutch. The serial number began CT200-100001.
Briefly, the C200 is a terrific little machine. It was agile, smart, reliable, and easy to ride. Although, to keep the engine from dying, it was necessary to open the air slide very gradually during the first mile. This was more apparent in cold weather. The four-stroke single engine was quiet. The all-iron barrel and cylinder head helped to keep the noise level down.
Handling suffered from excessively bouncy suspension, especially on uneven roads. Many criticized the handling without realizing that the C200 was designed as a touring lightweight, not as a sportster. However, apart from this lack of damping, the suspension was suitable for a bike in this price range.
The brakes were adequate; however, the front brake could, at times be a bit spongy. The electrics are up to Honda's excellent standard. Equipment included flashing indicators, neutral-indicator light, speedometer light, pilot light, powerful main beam, and brake light. The C200 was an impressive machine. It had plenty of power, good cruising speed, economical, and oil tightness. If you ever find yourself in a pickle when fixing your CT200, just make sure you have a Honda CT200 repair manual near you.
