Nissan Altima Service Repair Workshop Manuals
Nissan is a Japanese automobile manufacturing company that began building cars in 1933. Today, Nissan is known for reliable family cars, durable trucks and some of the most exciting sports cars ever made. The Nissan Altima is a mid-size family car introduced in 1992 and built in the United States at Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee and Canton, Mississippi factories. The Nissan Altima service manual is the same used by professional service techs.
The first Nissan Altima was brought to the US to replace the Stanza, and was designed in California. The car was intended to fill the gap between the compact and inexpensive Sentra and upscale large family sedan, the Maxima. Reasonably priced, and backed by Nissan’s reliable reputation, the Altima was successful and sold well. The Nissan Altima is now in its sixth generation and continues to be a strong selling vehicle.
Drivers of the first generation Altima were surprised to find the car to be quite powerful and handled brilliantly. The Altima was comfortable and roomy enough for four adults, provided ample cargo capacity and was reasonably fuel efficient. Nissan installed a 2.4 liter inline four cylinder engine that produced 150 horsepower in factory trim.
The second generation Nissan Altima was produced for only three years and was not well received. Nissan moved the styling and features slightly downmarket for this series, and owners took notice. The third generation, introduced in 2002, would cement the Nissan Altima as one of the best family sedans available in the US.
The third generation saw the Altima increase in size, space and power. For model year 2005, Nissan introduced a special R-package, that featured a 260 horsepower V6 that could propel the family sedan from zero to sixty miles per hour in only 5.8 seconds.
In 2006, Nissan introduced the fourth generation Altima, featuring an even more powerful V6 and the companies first use of continuous velocity transmissions, which function like an automatic, but do not engage stepped gearing, so acceleration is smooth and constant. The Altima was available as a coupe briefly from 2005-2013 and is a highly desirable body style today.
Borrowing technology from Toyota, Nissan introduced a Hybrid version of the Altima in 2007 that was used extensively by fleet operators in search of a reliable and dependable car.
The sixth generation of the Nissan Altima is larger than previous models, yet weighs less courtesy of the use of aluminum and lighter weight materials. It is one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in it’s segment, with numerous safety features and available semi-autonomous capability. A new generation is slatted to be introduced in model year 2020.
Owners have always found the Nissan Altima to be an easy vehicle to work on using a Nissan Altima repair manual that explains step by step instructions for making basic repairs or major overhauls, regardless of what year or model Nissan Altima owners are maintaining.
