A key component in the quest for a sub-7-minute lap of the fabled N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife, it adds dive planes and a larger splitter to the front fascia, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system to the rear wing. The active aerodynamic elements reduce drag in a straight line without sacrificing aerodynamic grip while cornering. The Performance pack also includes a Lightweight package, which removes some sound-deadening material and adds stunning 20-inch magnesium wheels, in addition to a unique front fascia. And while the Performance pack is featured on this Carbon Series model, it\u2019s available across the Mustang GTD range.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany sports cars excel at one thing. But for a car to set a quick lap at the N\u00fcrburgring, it needs to be great at everything. Cornering, grip, braking, acceleration, there\u2019s not a single area where it can\u2019t shine,\u201d said Mustang GTD Chief Engineer Greg Goodall. \u201cFrom the lightweight carbon fiber body on every GTD to the active aerodynamics of the Performance package, we\u2019ve learned from motorsport how to make the Mustang GTD excel everywhere, all in the quest for a sub-seven-minute lap of the N\u00fcrburgring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A driver\u2019s confidence is essential to a car\u2019s performance and Mustang GTD can keep drivers focused and aware on every corner, chicane and straightaway. Standard Recaro seats are up to the task, working in tandem with a new Mustang GTD steering wheel. LeMans marks the first-ever showing of the GTD interior.<\/p>\n<p>The flat-bottom steering wheel features a thick, well-padded rim with premium Dinamica inserts and a leather wrap, along with carbon-fiber inserts. Oversized and featuring a hexagonal pattern that\u2019s both light and gives the driver\u2019s fingers something to grip, it\u2019s yet another example of Ford using motorsports to improve the driving experience. Titanium trimming is also available on the rotary gear selector on the center console.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mustang GTD does far more than elevate the Mustang\u2019s performance envelope. It brings a new\u00a0more focused, premium feel to the cabin,\u201d said Design Manager Anthony Colard.<\/p>\n<h2>Motorsports Style That Sacrifices Nothing<\/h2>\n<p>Mustang GTD\u2019s new Chroma Flame paint takes center stage at Le Mans. One of six standard colors for Mustang GTD \u2013 alongside Polymimetic Gray, Race Red, Shadow Black, Frozen White, and Lightning Blue \u2013 it\u2019s exclusive to the Mustang GTD. The deep burgundy shade pairs beautifully with the Carbon Series trim.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the carbon-fiber body, the Carbon Series leaves the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck unpainted, while finishing the wheels (aluminum or magnesium) in Magnetite. The Unreal Gaming technology that powers the Sync 4 infotainment system now has Mustang GTD-specific welcome and farewell graphics on the 13.2-inch touchscreen and 12.4-inch reconfigurable digital gauge cluster. Each of the six drive modes features a Mustang GTD, while a new Performance gauge cluster is exclusive to the pinnacle of Mustang performance. It puts the gear indicator and tachometer front and center, while stripping away all superfluous information.
