The 738 hp hybrid monster is the mightiest M model to date.<\/p>\n

While you might think that the regular XM with 644hp and 590 lb-ft is already more than enough, BMW<\/a>‘s M division thought some might be interested in a bit more power and a slightly overboard styling \u2014 enters the Label Red.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Label Red’s 4.4-liter turbocharged V8’s power output is lower than other M performance cars with a similar powertrain \u2014 585 hp compared to the 600 hp of other V8-equipped M models. Still, once paired to an electric motor powered by a 25.7 kWh battery and producing 197hp and 206 lb-ft, the total output reaches an impressive 738 HP and 738 lb-ft \u2014 not bad for an SUV.<\/p>\n

In addition, like the base XM, the Label Red also features a pre-gearing stage. Located between the electric motor and the eight-speed transmission, the tech aims to boost the electric motor’s torque output to a whopping 332 lb-ft at the transmission input shaft. Keep in mind, even a hardcore Honda Civic Type R<\/a> performance hatchback “only” produces 310 lb-ft of torque, so needless to say, this XM has the mighty motor.<\/p>\n

As a result, the XM Label Red can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds and reach an electronically limited 150 mph top speed. Plan on hitting the track or the Autobahn anytime soon? No worries \u2014 BMW also offers an M Drivers Package, raising the top speed to 175 mph.<\/p>\n

And to make sure the Label Red stays firmly planted onto the ground, it’s equipped with BMW’s famous X-Drive AWD system, adaptive dampers, active anti-roll bars, an integral active steering system, and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. Interestingly, the AWD system still offers a “Sand Mode,” like in the standard model, which no Label Red owners will probably ever use, but better safe than sorry, right?<\/p>\n

A splash of Toronto Red paint is given to the outer kidney grills and the side of the SUV as well as the wheels insert, XM badge, diffuser’s contours, and plenty of interior bits. As for the Frozen Carbon Black metallic paint shown above, if you aren’t a fan, you’ll be happy to hear the Label Red can also be customized with 50 BMW Individual paint options.<\/p>\n

The US market’s BMW XM Label Red production will start in South Carolina, and early deliveries should begin in August 2023. While BMW is still silent regarding the price tag, we assume it’ll be significantly pricier than the regular XM priced at $150,000. Not to mention there will only be 300 examples of the Label Red, which we can only imagine will be reflected in the MSRP.<\/p>\n
