Here’s Mercedes’ answer to the facelifted BMW X7 \u2014 an entire GLS lineup update from the base trim to the upper AMG and Maybach models.<\/p>\n

With BMW launching its facelifted X7, Mercedes had to do something with its biggest 7-seater SUV if it wanted to stay in the game. Hence the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz<\/a> GLS gets a subtle update to all trims, including the GLS450, GLS580, GLS63 AMG, and GLS600 Maybach. The refresh comprises small detail changes in exterior bits, technology, and more customization options.<\/p>\n

For starters, all variants received new headlights and taillights. The entry-level GLS450 and GLS580 variant gets a noticeably larger grill with four slats finished in silver shadow and a redesigned bumper. Meanwhile, the Maybach and AMG models get a refreshed grille and new bumpers. Beyond that, all variants are now offered in two new exterior paint options \u2014 Twilight Blue Metallic and Manufaktur Alpine Grey Non-Metallic.<\/p>\n

Interior-wise, all GLS gets an improved infotainment screen with the latest MBUX system, with a voice assistant and new driver display styles. There’s also a new touch-sensitive steering wheel (which won’t be everyone’s cup of tea) and new upholstery options and trim finishes.<\/p>\n

That said, the new MBUX system also comes with a new Off-Road Mode, now featuring visual aid like a compass, steering angle, lateral inclination, and gradient right on the central display. That way, no need to worry about scratching your precious luxurious SUV going off-road, as you’ll be able to tell those obstacles long before you’re about to hit them.<\/p>\n

On the technical side, the 450 variant now produces 375 hp out of the 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (a 13 hp boost from before), while the 580 variant is powered by a juicer 510 hp 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine. Meanwhile, the Maybach GLS600 engine remains unchanged with 550hp and 538 lb-ft from a 4.0-liter V8, but nobody was really complaining about this one’s power output, though.<\/p>\n

As for the GLS63 AMG, it’s still equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 producing 603 hp and 627 lb-ft, but an extra boost of 21 hp and 184 lb-ft is available thanks to the mild hybrid system. On top of that, this model also gets improved suspension software allowing the damping system to work with electro-mechanical actuators, improving handling and reducing body roll under hard cornering.<\/p>\n

And while all GLS variants have all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic, the 580 variant is offered with an optional Off-Road Engineering Package, adding an underride guard and a 1.2-inch of extra ground clearance.<\/p>\n

The new 2024 Mercedes GLS will be available at local dealerships later this year, with pricing yet to be announced. Still, we expect to see the sticker price starting at $80,000.<\/p>\n
