Alfa’s CEO confirms the switch \u2014 the new Giulia will be built on Stellantis’ new EV Platform.<\/p>\n

Last year was a good year for Alfa Romeo<\/a>. While the general trend in the European auto market has been a bit dull, the Italian carmaker silently managed to bag a 22% increase in the sales department. So as a continuation to celebrate the joy, Alfa Romeo is taking its famous Giulia<\/a> lineup to the electric side of the fence.<\/p>\n

According to the brand’s\u00a0CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato,\u00a02025 will see Alfa Romeo debuting high-end Giulia EVs with upgraded power and chassis. In fact, the new electric sedans would be built on Stellantis’ STLA Large Platform \u2014 essentially the brand’s new BEV-centric platform.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Imparato claimed the new Giulia’s\u00a0designers aim to arrive at a style that is “a connection with the past without jeopardizing the future.” Hence the new EVs are expected to have a range of up to 500 miles and a high-speed charging system of 800V.\u00a0Indeed, these reflect\u00a0the fact that the Alfa boss doesn’t want customers to “suffer inconvenience from switching to EV.”<\/p>\n

But the juiciest part of the news comes from the Giulia EV’s\u00a0power department. The base, entry-level model is expected to pack 350 hp, while the Veloce will give you a leap in performance with 800 hp. And as if those weren’t impressive enough, the Quadrifoglio will remain as the range-topping model with a staggering output of 1000 hp \u2014\u00a0wouldn’t have such a hard time saying goodbye to the previous Ferrari<\/a>-based V6 powerplant, would you? Two years away from production, and we already can’t wait.<\/p>\n

In related news,\u00a0the Stelvio lineup will also be electrified soon in 2026, and there should be a larger Alfa Romeo EV in 2027. Despite the lack of details, we think Alfa’s three-year transition period into the electric world is worth marking.<\/p>\n

The CEO also mentioned how Alfa Romeo aims to achieve the “right handling and agility” when switching to electrification. He claims one should be able to differentiate other EVs built on the STLA platform from the Alfa EVs based on their design and dynamics alone. Looks like the brand has many exciting plans coming for the future, after all.<\/p>\n
