The Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4\u00b2 comes with lifted suspension and portal axles, transforming the SUV into a street-legal off-road monster!<\/p>\n

Mercedes<\/a>‘ latest G63 makeover makes you question if the SUV<\/a> is truly street legal. A hardcore experience, the Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4\u00b2 is the successor to the 2015’s G500 4×4\u00b2 of 2015 and derives most of its looks from the standard’ Mercedes-AMG G63. But don’t let the toy Jeep look fool you \u2014 the G63 4×4\u00b2 is cut out to be a ‘conqueror of all terrains.’ However, Mercedes called it “the last of its kind,” likely referring to the ICE version.<\/p>\n

Merc showed the first information of the AMG G63 4×4 “Squared” came on the “G-Class Private Lounge” site and will make it available only to existing G-Wagen<\/a> owners. Moreover, a brief YouTube video starring G-Class product manager Toni M\u00e4ntele running through the SUV’s specs is also up and running on YouTube.<\/p>\n

Although Mercedes remained silent on revealing details, we do know that the AMG G63 4×4\u00b2 has a 45-degree approach angle, meaning it can take on slopes up to a 45-degree incline, along with 13.8 inches of ground clearance and a 35.8-inch fording depth. Those are 4.3 inches and 8.2 inches better than the G550 and G63’s 9.5 inches of clearance and 27.6-inch water fording depth. The new 4×4\u00b2, however, does seem to fall short of the old G500’s 17.24 inches of clearance and 39.4-inch fording depth, but hardly anyone would complain \u2014 the specs are still way too extreme to be maxed out.<\/p>\n

Of course, these figures are the product of the raised suspension with portal axles, allowing them to sit off-center from the wheels, farther from the ground.<\/p>\n

The heart of the beast is the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 is carried on from regular G63 models, however, with a tiny power boost from 577 hp to 585 hp. Although the torque is yet to be revealed, buyers can rest easy as the G63 non-squared pushes a healthy 627 lb-ft.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Mercedes has succeeded in providing an overall off-road<\/a> feel with all the lush carbon fiber accents around the SUV, wide fender add-ons, some roof-mounted LEDs, and finally, the “Green Hell Mago” finish on its exterior. However, if ‘green’ isn’t you, you can always choose from forty other colors.<\/p>\n
