Toyota just unleashed its final piece of the Tundra puzzle, revealing a full-blown luxury variant called Capstone to cater to the affluent!<\/p>\n

In many ways, the latest generation Tundra<\/a> has seen one of the most comprehensive changes since its inception. Retaining its robust and traditional ladder frame from previous editions, the full-sized truck from Toyota<\/a> is all-new from the ground up, starting with its new face. Following the current trend, it gets a much bigger intake grille with the Toyota logo as the centerpiece alongside beefed-up bumpers across all variants. Other updates include a new powertrain, suspension, interior, and safety tech.<\/p>\n

However, the 2022 Tundra missed a highly-luxurious trim to compete with the GMC Sierra Denali, Chevrolet Silverado High Country, Ford F-150 Platinum, and Ram 1500 Limited. Toyota didn’t wait long for the answer, though, introducing the 2022 Tundra Capstone \u2014 a version of the pickup truck that might as well carry the Lexus badge.<\/p>\n

According to the representatives, it is the brand’s way of expressing luxury in the most utilitarian way possible. Toyota kept things simple and classy on the front-end with a color-keyed finish on the grille along with a contrasting inner-mesh chrome pattern. Furthermore, it is complemented by rugged front and rear bumpers, 22-inch alloy spoke wheels, including a whole host of colors such as Wind Chill Pearl, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Celestial Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Blueprint.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Tundra Capstone will only be available with the maxed-out iFORCE Max 3.5-liter V6 hybrid powertrain. Notably, Toyota used an additional motor-generator unit (MGU) that boosts the figures to an impressive 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The power then goes to all four wheels via a 10-speed Electronically controlled Transmission with Intelligence (ECTi) that always keeps the engine in its sweet spot.<\/p>\n

Toyota also significantly upgraded the chassis and dynamics package to keep things balanced and comfy. The Tundra still uses an old-school ladder frame chassis, ensuring ruggedness. Still, a new adaptive suspension and multi-link rear setup with piggyback dampers enable better off-road capabilities and improved comfort levels.<\/p>\n

However, what gives the Tundra Capstone its edge over other adversaries is in the cabin; the luxurious model kicks things up a notch with dual-tone black and white semi-aniline upholstered leather seats, a dashboard, and a steering wheel. It even adds a Dark American Walnut open-pore wood panel on the dashboard to further flaunt its luxury credentials.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the top-spec variant is loaded with tech, including a 14-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM compatibility. The driver’s side also receives a fully digital 12.9-inch cockpit display along with an optional 10-inch heads-up display (HUD) for more information.<\/p>\n

Besides the luxury package on offer, the Tundra also comes with a Multi-Terrain System with 360-degree cameras, dedicated Tow\/Haul mode, along a bunch of other assists to keep human intervention to a minimum. Last but not least, the truck comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, etc.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Tundra Capstone makes a pretty strong statement! Toyota still hasn’t announced pricing, but expect that to happen quite soon.<\/p>\n
