The high-luxury Genesis G90 is striking from every angle, combining elegant lines with hi-tech details, but is that enough to dethrone the Germans?<\/p>\n

Ever since Genesis<\/a> came to force in 2015, the brand has been riding on a massive tidal wave of expansion in different regions across the globe. Each model is named after the brand’s initials and designated numbers like the ‘G90’, depicting its competitive target space.<\/p>\n

So far this year, the automaker launched the all-electric GV60<\/a>, the more premium GV70<\/a>, and is now ready to unleash into the Germans’ territory with the G90.<\/p>\n

Genesis went all-out with the design on its flagship saloon, leaving almost no stone unturned in the pursuit of ultimate opulence. Starting with its front fascia, the G90 receives an all-new face with a non-conforming pentagonal grille crisscrossed by a double G-matrix pattern that screams exclusivity. It is complemented by the signature snazzy Genesis twin LED light bars spilling across the face, beyond the wheel arches, and ending before the front doors.<\/p>\n

Expanding its prowess further, the designers fitted the Genesis G90 with a single-piece clamshell hood from fender to fender, eliminating the need for any panel gaps and augmenting its premium quotient against its competitors. The sedan carries forward the sleek profile with a sloping roofline, chrome-clad window sills, a clean body line with slightly inward-facing body panels at the C-pillar region, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear-end finishes with a coupe-style roofline, Sonata-Esque LED tail lights, Genesis lettering, and pentagonal exhaust tips.<\/p>\n

Genesis also hinted at a more extravagant version with a 190 mm longer wheelbase for those who demand even higher levels of luxury. Most of its design cues are carried over from the standard car, albeit it could receive an exquisite paint scheme, additional chroming bits, and a new set of reflective alloys to flaunt away its road presence.<\/p>\n

These characteristics are well in line with European-spec luxury chariots such as the Mercedes S-Class<\/a>, the BMW 7 Series, the Audi A8, and its Japanese rival, the Lexus LS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Genesis still hasn’t released powertrain information. However, I doubt the 5.0-liter V8 from the predecessor will be carried over from the predecessor. Instead, Genesis will probably use its tried-and-true 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. Meanwhile, an all-electric version named Electrified G90 is almost inevitable, considering the recently-launched Electrified G80<\/a>.<\/p>\n
