Ford unveiled the wraps off its global mid-size pickup truck, the 2022 Ranger, will an all-new design, powertrain options, and more!<\/p>\n

The Ranger is a mid-size pickup<\/a> that caters to a wide variety of end-users. For example, Ford<\/a> distinguished the two use cases; the first is hardware trips to carry plywood and other materials back and forth between trips; the other is pushing the limits in extreme off-roading trails and competitions. With that information in mind, Ford undertook a global operation and conducted over 5,000 interviews with various customers and enthusiasts to understand and implement suggestions in the brand-new mid-size pickup in town.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Ford Ranger<\/a> certainly puts forth a strong statement and switches its narrative in comparison to its predecessors. Take the case of its front fascia; the Ranger looks fresh with a bigger intake grille with honeycomb elements and two horizontal bars running across the central portion. Furthermore, it features class-first Matrix LED headlamps accompanied by C-shaped DRLs and a rugged front bumper.<\/p>\n

The Ranger receives a taste of toughness on the sides, with muscular fenders and black plastic cladding. Ford continued the contemporary theme on the back end with fresh LED taillights and a sturdy gate with the ‘Ranger’ lettering.<\/p>\n

“Our team was focused on one goal \u2014 to make this Ranger the toughest and most capable we’ve ever created, […] They put it through one of the most exhaustive global testing schedules we’ve ever developed and would not rest until we were satisfied that it was Built Ford Tough,” said Graham Pearson, Ranger vehicle program director.<\/p>\n

And of course, Ford also improved the chassis with an upgraded platform that is 50 mm longer and has a 50 mm larger track width. The new backbone features reinforcements to the front end with a hydro-formed structure that makes it easy to lengthen the engine bay space and improve airflow to the radiator as a result.<\/p>\n

Ford also improved the Ranger’s off-road abilities by moving the front wheels forward by 50 mm for a better approach angle than the previous-gen truck. Moreover, it moved the wheels outboard, increasing the articulation.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Ranger also packs some nifty storage options to improve overall utility. Firstly, the tailgate can double up as a portable hardware workstation with an in-built ruler and clamp pockets to measure and cut building materials. Additionally, there’s a power socket at the back, which can support heavy-duty appliances. At the same time, a cargo management system with dividers also aids in decluttering and securing luggage of all shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n

The Ranger will be available with multiple powertrain configurations, including a new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel. Ford will also offer two 2.0-liter diesel options with a single or Bi-Turbo configuration. Nonetheless, Ford will almost surely offer gas and hybrid models only in the North American model.<\/p>\n

Inside, Ford offers the Ranger with a 10-inch or 12.5-inch infotainment system with FordPass, SYNC feature set, 360-degree parking camera, and more!<\/p>\n

Ford says that the Ranger will be built in its Thailand and South Africa factories by the end of 2022. However, the North American model will be built from summer 2023.<\/p>\n
