The Toyota GR 86 received its first Rocket Bunny treatment, featuring super-wide squared-off wheel arches, making it look like a mean drift machine.<\/p>\n

TRA Kyoto, a Japanese tuning house renowned for its over-the-top creations, strikes again, this time adding its unique twist to the new GR 86. Kei Miura, who designed the beast, claims to have been inspired by Japanese car<\/a> cultures such as Kanjo, drifting, and Kyusha styles, each revolving around lightweight cars reminiscent of motorsports from the 70s and 80s.<\/p>\n

You might already be aware of TRA Kyoto’s Rocket Bunny style that blew up the SEMA show with a rad blue Scion FRS with aggressive hunches, low-side skirts, bespoke rims, and an iconic ducktail rear spoiler a while back. Fast forward to recent times, and the bunny still lures crowds at SEMA. The latest car to receive the same treatment is the Toyota<\/a> GR 86, the direct replacement of the Scion FRS (Toyota 86).<\/p>\n

As with any TKA Kyoto build, the process starts with scanning the entire surface of the car\u2019s exterior using a laser. Then, Kei and his team design the elements using CAD to ensure that the proportions are bang on. However, unlike other more subtle tuners, TKA Kyoto doesn\u2019t hesitate to go hard. The Rocket Bunny GR 86<\/a> seems to have a dual personality, but certainly not in a bad way \u2013 the result is quite eye-catching.<\/p>\n

The Rocket Bunny GR 86 features wide and low-mounted front bumpers, a large chamber for cooling, bumper canards, and an open slot near the left headlight. The theme carries over to the sides with squared-off fender flares contrasting with drag radials for quite a stance. Furthermore, smoked-out black elements join the fenders and also connect it to the super-low side skirts, with flares wild enough to rival modern F1 cars!<\/p>\n

Similarly, TRA Kyoto has bolted the squared-off wheel arches, further enhancing the drift car style. Interestingly, the back end was retained as per the original spec, except for a subdued rear spoiler and under-the-exhaust elements resembling a diffuser. Still, it\u2019s enough to finish off the rear end in style.<\/p>\n

The entire packages blend in with a fairly respectable powertrain setup featuring a 2.4-liter straight-four engine that pumps out 228 horses and 184 lb-ft of torque. However, the Rocket Bunny GR 86 features enough vents for an added supercharger or turbocharger, significantly increasing those numbers.<\/p>\n

All things considered, there\u2019s no denying the scale of how rad the Rocket Bunny GR 86 kit looks. However, knowing TRA Kyoto, this is only the start, and more GR 86 kits should be on their way soon!<\/p>\n
