The latest brand to surprise with a performance combustion vehicle is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/bmw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BMW<\/a>. Indeed, the German automaker is lining up to offer something super fast and gas-guzzling.<\/p>\n<p>Automotive website <em>CarBuzz<\/em> recently discovered a new trademark filing for the &#8220;M7&#8221; and &#8220;M9&#8221; nameplates from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Interestingly, BMW had registered the &#8220;M7&#8221; name back in 2017 but didn&#8217;t pursue the model further at the time. Later, the company declared the M760i would stay the most powerful car in the 7 Series, effectively ending all hope of a dedicated M7 in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>It is now evident that BMW&#8217;s M division never had strong feelings about developing a proper 7 Series sports sedan. Still, if rumors are to be believed, BMW would be working on the next-gen 7 Series, which would probably be the last one with an internal combustion engine. Hence, we assume that the high-end model could be named M7 as a grand tribute to the series.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the M9 has also been constantly rumored as a high-end supercar, similar to the i8, but with much more power under the hood. It might be a spiritual successor to the M1 even, although we aren\u2019t sure about the mid-engine aspect.<\/p>\n<p>Current rumors place the BMW M9 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/8-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">M8<\/a> CSL platform, which was already caught testing at the N\u00fcrburgring, probably as a testbed for the future BMW M9. Notably, the M8 CSL should be an upgraded version of the 617 hp M8, probably getting power from BMW\u2019s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing around 700 hp.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, despite several reports and numerous rumors, nothing is concrete about the M7 and the M9. We&#8217;ll have to wait and see.
