VW introduced the refreshed 2022 Tiguan earlier this year with complete specifications, aiming to attract customers to the fastest-growing market segment in the United States. Now, VW has revealed the compact crossover pricing, showing a slight price increase for the base model but a healthy decrease for the top-range trim. The 2022 Tiguan is available in four trim levels, dropping the SEL trim.<\/p>\n
The entry-level 2022 Tiguan S front-wheel-drive base model will now cost $27,190 compared to $26,440 of the 2021 model. Furthermore, the SE trim now costs $30,690, an increase of $2,100. Similarly, the SE R-Line Black starts with a hike of $2,895 and costs $33,490. However, the top-of-the-line SEL Premium R-Line will now cost $37,790, or $2,500 less than before.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the 4Motion all-wheel-drive variant will further cost you $1500, which is optional on the first three trim levels \u2014 S, SE, and SE R-Line Black. However, the 4Motion is standard on the $37,790 SEL R-Line trim.<\/p>\n
All VW 2022 Tiguan trims come with the efficient 2.0-liter turbo-four delivering 184 hp and 221 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, every model comes standard eight-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n
Contrary to other crossovers in this segment, all three front-wheel-drive trims feature three rows of seats. However, the AWD variants only have two rows.<\/p>\n
The 2022 Tiguan features some exciting tech upgrades inside the cabin. Now, the VW Digital Cockpit instrument cluster is a standard for all variants. As standard, it features an 8-inch display with an option to update to the 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro. Another standard upgrade is the VW Car-Net with Wi-Fi connectivity. Furthermore, the MIB3 infotainment system with wireless charging, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay is standard from the second SE trim.<\/p>\n

The improvements do make the 2022 VW Tiguan a more exciting prospect, but they also push the price past its competitors. Notably, the Tiguan S base model ($27,190) will cost more than the Hyundai Tuscon SE ($26,135), Mazda CX-5 ($26,545), Honda CR-V LX ($26,575), and Ford Escape S ($26,800). However, its price is still lower than the Toyota RAV4 LE ($27,565).<\/p>\n
The 2022 VW Tiguan should reach dealerships by Q3 this year, of course, if everything goes to plan.<\/p>\n
