Jeep teased the world with a sneak peek of the latest Grand Cherokee 4xe and its vision of an electrified future.<\/p>\n

Stellantis<\/a> organized the EV<\/a> Day 2021 event for all 18 manufacturers under its roof with a singular vision of reducing emissions and bringing electrification to the entire line-up. In particular, Jeep<\/a> gave the first look into the design and styling of the 4xe Grand Cherokee<\/a> and has promised a full unveil of all the specifications at the New York Auto show in August.<\/p>\n

At first glance, the latest Cherokee looks similar to the larger Grand Cherokee L, with sharper lines and other distinguishing design elements to it from the 2021 model. The Grand Cherokee 4xe<\/a> should have a similar hybrid powertrain as seen on the Wrangler<\/a> producing 376 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Two other cars that have already received the 4xe treatment include the Compass<\/a> and Renegade<\/a>, currently on sale in Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Apart from a first look at the upcoming Cherokee 4xe, Jeep also showcased plans for its future lineup and a roadmap for the company going ahead. The main focus of its vision will unsurprisingly revolve around sustainability while also preserving the fundamental character of the brand.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Jeep intends to offer 4xe PHEV<\/a> variants of all its vehicles and electrify about 70% of its entire range. Furthermore, technologies such as Remote Vehicle Tracking, Biometric Scanning, Autonomous Off-Road commutes, Peer-to-peer charging, and so on, are also expected soon. And worth mentioning, Jeep is also working on solar-powered chargers to future-proof its lineup when it starts hitting the trails.<\/p>\n

One can’t help but wonder how the 4xe and its associated technologies would be implemented in future markets. The availability of solar chargers near trails also begs the question of its viability and usage patterns of customers going ahead.<\/p>\n

After all, anything remotely innovative and exciting in the automotive world becomes a new standard once it fetches success.<\/p>\n
