The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will have cleaner tailpipe emissions, but the 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine will still produce the same 490 hp.<\/p>\n

The updated Corvette arrives with a more eco-friendly engine and a new visual package limited to only 1,000 units. Chevy<\/a> has tweaked the 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine, bringing better calibration, revised fuel delivery, and an active fuel management system.<\/p>\n

Notably, Chevy used a new fuel pump and injectors, both enabling higher fuel pressures. However, despite the engine tweaks, there is no real power boost, only lower emissions. The naturally-aspirated V8 still produces 490 hp or 495 hp with the performance exhaust kit. The eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission also remains unchanged.<\/p>\n

The fact that these modifications didn\u2019t raise the performance bar left many wondering. Tadge Juechter, Corvette’s<\/a> chief engineer, said the new fuel injection system and active fuel management system were added to comply with federal emission standards. Power output and range might not improve but should result in lower exhaust emissions.<\/p>\n

Apart from the engine mods, the most significant change in the 2022 Corvette is the introduction of the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition as a celebration of Corvette\u2018s championship-winning car. The special edition package is limited to 1,000 models and comes in two colors\u2014Accelerate Yellow with gray accents or Hypersonic Gray with yellow accents.<\/p>\n

The interior is also finished in striking yellow and cool gray, with GT2 bucket seats. Furthermore, customers can opt for the lower rear spoiler and front splitters on all models now. Previously, they were only available on the Z51 track package.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Corvette production will start at the GM Bowling Green Assembly production facility in Kentucky, with sales starting shortly after. The supercar<\/a> will be ready for ordering (including the IMSA GTLM Championship package) from July 1 and start at $62,195.<\/p>\n
