Namely, the new Reimagine business plan suggests that the company is planning to release six new electric vehicles in the next five years. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/jlr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JLR<\/a> also plans to produce only electrified drivetrains from 2026 onwards, including mild-hybrid setups. To achieve this, Land Rover is currently developing two dedicated electric platforms \u2013 the mixed-powertrain Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).<\/p>\n<p>The EMA platform will consist of an underfloor battery placement, with a basic structure to maximize space. Jaguar says that the electric drive units will feature an 800V technology, offering an efficient 4-4.5 miles per kWh for EVs built on the EMA platform.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23218 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque.jpg\" alt=\"2020 Range Rover Evoque\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1040\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque-1024x555.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque-768x416.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2020-Range-Rover-Evoque-1536x832.jpg 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1920px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1920\/1040;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the release set for 2024, the company has confirmed its first cars on the EMA to be Range Rover <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/evoque\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evoque<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/discovery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Discovery<\/a> Sport, suggesting that future generations of the models will be all-electric. Apart from all-electric drivetrains, the EMA platform will also support mild-hybrid and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/plug-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plug-in hybrid<\/a> drivetrains.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the MLA platform is a flexible base that can anchor all types of drivetrains, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/ev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">all-electric<\/a>, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emanualonline.com\/blog\/tag\/hybrid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hybrid<\/a>. The company plans to introduce the MLA platform in 2022 or 2023, using it to build next-gen Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.<\/p>\n<p>Although there is no information on the upcoming Velar SUV, Land Rover should also build it on the EMA platform. Meanwhile, Land Rover also plans a family of Defender SUVs, with two new models planned for production for now.
