The M5 CS is the most powerful BMW sedan to date, packing 635 HP and weighing 155 lb less than the M5 Competition.<\/p>\n

BMW<\/a> unveiled its most powerful and fastest \u2018M\u2019 Series car, the M5 <\/a>CS. Under the hood, it features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine delivering 635 HP and a peak torque of 553 lb-ft. The power goes to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n

The super sedan\u2019s lightweight body helps it accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, while BMW limited the top speed to 190 mph. Moreover, it has an all-wheel-drive system, featuring torque vectoring between the front and rear axles.<\/p>\n

The German<\/a> automaker used carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic for the body panels and the interior, effectively shaving 155 pounds off the regular M5 Competition. The M5 CS sits on massive 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires for superior grip and handling. For the suspension, BMW used similar components to that of the M8 Gran Coupe Competition.<\/p>\n

The M5 CS looks quite svelte on the outside, especially in Frozen Deep green color and gold bronze wheels. BMW also painted the CS badges and grille in the gold bronze color for a truly unique touch. The other color option is Frozen Brands Hatch gray.<\/p>\n

Inside, the performance sedan features a 12.3-inch infotainment system<\/a>, fitted BMW\u2019s i-Drive. Meanwhile, the carbon shift paddles look decidedly sporty, and there is \u2018CS\u2019 branding at multiple places, including the seats, dash, and door sills. Not to mention, BMW went with the 2-seat configuration at the back instead of the conventional 3-bencher. Also, a permanent armrest is in place between the front seats, and there is no storage space inside the cabin. Nonetheless, all four seats have separate storage buckets.<\/p>\n

With the M5 CS launch, BMW is targeting limited markets, including North America, Russia, Germany, and the UK, and production is expected to start in March 2021. American customers can get their hands on the performance sedan for $142,995, including $995 destination fees\u2014$30,000 costlier than the M5 Competition. The first units will arrive in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n
