Renault\u2019s Zoe emerges as the best-selling electric car in Europe for 2020.<\/p>\n

In a recent press release, Renault claimed the third-generation Zoe to be the bestselling EV in the European markets, with 95,985 cars sold until the end of November 2020. This figure also includes customer registrations whose cars are yet to be delivered. Such an impressive result marks an 80 percent increase in registrations when compared to the same period for the previous year.<\/p>\n

The French manufacturer says the Zoe was also the best-selling electric passenger car in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. Moreover, Renault has already managed to sell more than 268,000 Zoe hatchbacks since the beginning of production in 2012 in Europe alone.<\/p>\n

The Zoe\u2019s 135-horsepower electric motor is more than enough for the average driver’s requirements, and its 52 kWh battery pack is good for 245 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Zoe is not the marque\u2019s only vehicle on the best-sellers list. The Kangoo Z.E. has also emerged as the best-selling electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) in Europe. With nearly 8,500 zero-emission Kangoos registered year-to-date at the end of November 2020.<\/p>\n

Higher zero-emission vehicle sales will greatly help Renault comply with European emission regulations, avoiding millions in fines. The EU is set to thoroughly enforce stringent regulations to curb growing emissions and promote electric vehicle sales.<\/p>\n

The French marque is experiencing a surge in electric vehicle sales despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. These figures are a testament to the general public\u2019s support for the oncoming wave of electric vehicles. More and more buyers are opting for electric vehicles, and such super-mini BEVs like the Zoe or the Twingo provide a great entry-level option for first-time buyers.<\/p>\n
