The first Honda ATC 90 was released in 1969 under a different name. The name was updated to the ATC in 1971. This three wheeler housed a moderately powerful engine and state of the art design at the time it was released. The first edition had a powerful 89 c, one cylinder, four stroke engine and put out about 7 horsepower. It had a four speed gearbox along with an automatic clutch.
This three wheeled all terrain vehicle did well on road and off road. It had a wider stance than a motorcycle providing more stability. The challenge it faced was not being able to use motorcycle tires though so softer terrain was a challenge at first for the ATC 90. The tires were changed to a newer design that had a lower pressure, 22 inch tire which helped eliminate that problem. After a year or so on the market, the engine was made more powerful. After updated, it had a 90 cc engine with a four speed gearbox. This setup made it faster and helped it to navigate well through a variety of terrain.
This revolutionary design changed the ATV world forever. It was the foundation that all other all terrain vehicles would be based off of. If you are lucky enough to own a piece of this history we know that keeping it up to date with repairs and service is important to you.
