In the early 2000ís, Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer produced the Ducati 749 to replace the 748. The 749 was a 90 degree, V-twin desmodromic valve actuated engine sport motorbike that was produced for a little over three years. The Ducati 749 was available in four different model variations Ė the 749, 749 Dark, 749S, and 749R. While Ducati is known for short production years of their motorbikes, the 749 was quite popular, all over the world. Owners and technicians who work on these motorbikes often refer to a Ducati 749 repair manual when necessary maintenance is required.

The Ducati 749 did share a lot of parts and design elements with the 999. However, the 749 had a smaller 180/55 profile rear tire and slightly smaller cylinders with different heads. Itís displacement was about 748 cc which was smaller than the 999. Because the engine was smaller, itís rev was able to be higher and produce a lower peak horsepower.

The S version of the 749 incorporated elements that were not common on most motorcycles. It had an adjustable rake and a five-position adjustable rear seat mount. The Ducati 749R, otherwise known as the racing model, was produced in a limited number. Each sold was stamped with its own production number and the cost was about twice as much as the base model 749. The R model was much lighter in weight and had a shorter stroke. With increased bore and larger valves, the 749R was able to run better at a higher rpm. A larger fuel tank paired with magnesium and carbon fiber materials made for a much quicker ride.

In 2008, Ducati ended the production of the 749 models. These models were then replaced by the Ducati 848. While production of the 749 models only lasted for a few years, many Ducati fans and motorbike enthusiasts still hold a 749 model in their possessions. The 749, like other Ducati motorbike models made a mark in the motorbike racing world.

Today, owners of a Ducati 749 who work on their own motorbikes can utilize a Ducati 749 service manual in order to ensure that they remain in good shape. Ducati technicians also tend to rely on these manuals as they provide guidance for routine services such as engine problems. Each variation of the Ducati 749 can be maintained with these manuals as they provide general and specific instructions.
