The Vauxhall Corsa was first produced in 1982 and remains in production today. The first generation Corsa A was manufactured from 1982 until 1993. The first Corsas were made in a three door hatchback design as well as a two door saloon version. The standard Corsa trim was simply known as the Corsa. There was also a Corsa Lexus, Berlin’s, and SR version. The SR was the sport version. It contained a spoiler, alloy wheels, a more powerful engine, and checkered seating. In 1988 the names changed to the LS, GL, GLS, and GT. The different engines available were the 1.0L with 45 horsepower, the 1.2L with 55 horsepower, the 1.3L with 70 horsepower, and a 1.4L model which put out 75 horsepower. In 1990 the car received a facelift and got new bumpers, a new grille, new interior design, and new headlights. The car was also sold under the Opel name.

The second generation provided a slightly more powerful engine. It was produced from 1993 to 2000. It was also available with either a manual or automatic transmission. The third generation was sold from 2000 to 2006. This affordable car model had been selling greatly for over 20 years by the end of the third generation, and there was no end in sight.

The fourth generation was produced from 2006 to 2014. It was named second place for the European Car of the Year for 2006. A turbocharged engine was available in 2007. In 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, a Corsa Hybrid was unveiled with a lithium ion battery. In 2010 there was some major updating happening. It included a new grille, front bumper, and new headlamps.

The fifth generation is still in production and selling well. It is still available in either a 3 or 5 door version. The Corsa is described as fun, smart, and safe. Years of experience agree with this statement. The comfortability now included as well as the sleek design and technological features will surely keep this car a favorite for years to come.
