The SsangYong Kyron was a compact SUV built by South Korean automaker SsangYong Motor Company. It was powered by a Mercedes-Benz diesel engine. MG's Ken Greenly is the one credited with its design. In 2007, it was the recipient of a facelift. So, if you ever find yourself under your Kyron and things aren’t looking right, grab a SsangYong Kyron service manual and get things straightened out.

The Kyron was SsangYong's smaller 4x4, it sat right below the Rexton in their model line up. Slightly bigger than Land Rover Freelander, it was a practical off-roader for those who couldn't afford some of the more expensive 4x4s. Available with both 2WD and 4WD, it was very competitively priced and well equipped even when compared with other value brand 4x4s such as the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.

It was also a competent performer and could impressively take on rough terrain with ease. However, while it was a good workhorse, it lacked refinement and the luxury that its competitors offered, and the diesel engines were noisy. On paved roads, the ride was hampered by being bouncy and significant body roll could be felt while cornering. Additionally, the interior was not up to snuff when compared with its competitors. The XDi270 diesel engine option was available on the Kyron. This engine option increased the performance to 162 hp and turned out 340 N⋅m. Both the XDi200 and XDi270 used the third-generation Common Rail technology. The direct injection system slightly boosts fuel efficiency and power.

The new third-generation ECU was operated on a 32-bit platform rather than the 16-bit platform found on the two previous generations of common-rail technology. There was also a 3.2 MPI engine option available, which reached up to 220 hp. The only transmission offered on all models was the Mercedes Benz 5G-Tronic model W722-6 5-speed. In the 2009 Dakar Rally, Isidre Esteve Pujol and teammate Eric Auge Medina came 1st in a Kyron 2.7DCI. In the world of off-roading, the Kyron has made a name for itself. Making sure your Kyron is in shape before hitting the unbeaten path is important. Make sure you grab your SsangYong Kyron workshop manual, today.
