Citigo

Skoda is a Czech automobile manufacturer. The company is one of the top 5 automobile manufacturers worldwide. Since their humble beginnings, this company has produced several models. One current model is the Skoda Citigo. The Skoda Citigo workshop manual is a great reference tool for anyone who owns the Citigo or is interested in this brand and model.

Originally, Skoda started out as a bicycle company by 2 friends, Laurin and Klement. When Klement could not find parts to repair his German bicycle, the two friends decided to start their own bike repair shop. In 1905 the company began turning out automobiles. This placed them as the second oldest car manufacturer in the Czech Republic.

After the fall of Communism, Skoda became part of the Volkswagen Group in 1990. This partnership allowed Skoda to benefit from better design styling and engineering. This partnership with VW was beneficial in the design and production of the Citigo.

In 2011, Skoda debuted the Citigo. The Citigo is a sister to VW’s Up. The platform is the same for both and is based on Volkswagen’s New Small Family platform. The New Small Family platform is a range of ultra-compact cars designed to be used in a city setting. The platform consists of having the engine in the front of the car and a short wheelbase. Models are typically available as a 3 door hatchback and a 5 door version.

The company sold 37,100 Citigo vehicles in 2017. These cars are only available to purchase in Europe. For the model year 2017, Skoda also updated certain design features of the Citigo.

In 2019, Skoda introduced their fully electric car, the Skoda E-Citigo. This electric car is capable of driving for 186 miles on a single charge. The company has given 10 of these electric cars to certain clients. It is expected though, that the production designs will be vary slightly from these original models.

It can certainly be said that Skoda is a strong competitor in the automobile industry worldwide with a very strong presence in Europe. Today Skoda sells cars in 102 countries. The partnership with VW has also been beneficial to Skoda. They have benefited from better styling design and engineering, as is evident with the Citigo and the E-Citigo. The Skoda Citigo service manual is a worthwhile addition to any car library and will help you keep your Citigo running in top shape.
