Renault is a French automobile manufacturing company that began in 1899 and is known for it’s successful motor sports program and contributions to race car development. Renault introduced the Espace in 1984 and helped create the MPV-class of minivans. In 2015, Renault redesigned the Espace as a mid-size crossover. This Renault Espace workshop manual is the same as the ones used by professional mechanics to repair these vehicles.

In the 1970’s and early 1980’s, Renault, using design cooperation with Chrysler UK, developed the Espace -French for “space.” While sales were initially slow as consumers were unsure what to make of the newly-created multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), but sales quickly took off and the Espace was cemented in automotive history. As one of the very first MPVs, the Espace demonstrated what a people-forward design could be, providing ample seating for seven adults, capacity for a large variety of cargo, and overall reliability.

Successive generations of the Renault Espace added safety, convenience and comfort options while keeping the large MPV format. Multiple European automotive journalists have cited the Espace as among the very best of the class of vehicles. The Renault Espace was awarded a five-star safety rating in it’s fourth generation. Diesel versions are particularly desirable for buyers interested in a durable MPV with plenty of capacity. The Espace is considerably larger than most competing vehicles, leading reviewers to comment about difficulties parking and maneuvering in tight areas.

As times changed and buyer preferences shifted from minivans to crossover SUVs, Renault decided to change the design of the Espace, creating a luxury crossover SUV from the previous MPV. It is perhaps the best example of shifting preferences, having experienced difficult sales early in development as the unfamiliar MPV platform was popularized, then shifted to new designs as buyers decided against big, unwieldy vans to more agile mid-size SUVs that still retained cargo carrying capacity superior to that of a sedan.

The Renault Espace is an easy to maintain MPV using a Renault Espace repair manual. Regardless of generation, the Renault Espace repair manual provides detailed instructions for the casual mechanic to remove, inspect and replace worn and damaged components. These repair manuals feature diagrams and troubleshooting checklists that make it easy to find and correct problems.
