The Oldsmobile Alero was a compact vehicle manufactured for six years, between 1999 and 2004. The Alero was designed to be a smaller, sporty performance car, and was actually quite successful when it came to sales, easily selling more than 500,000 models during the short cycle. These quick little cars would greatly benefit from an Oldsmobile Alero repair manual.

Any vehicle focused on performance requires special attention to maintain great results. The Alero is a well-designed compact car that managed to find adequate power despite having a relatively small engine. Most General Motors vehicles aren’t too difficult to fix and restore, so you shouldn’t have any issue finding plenty of resources that will teach you how to repair your Alero. This is the best way to make sure your Oldsmobile Alero continues running for years to come!

The Alero was sold in four different styles of trim, and any of them had the option of coming with four or two doors. The entry level trim was the GX, which was equipped with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine and came standard with a 5-speed manual transmission. After 2002, the engine was swapped out for a 2.2L four-cylinder engine with increased fuel economy.

Taking a step up from the GX are the GL1 and GL2 trims. Both models featured improved technology features, but differed in engine use. The GL1 offered the option of the traditional 2.4L engine, or use of a powerful 3.4L V6. All GL2 models were installed with the 3.4L V6 engine.

The most luxury trim of the Alero was the GLS. The GLS was very similar to the GL2, equipped with 3.4L V6 engine and even more technology conveniences. Most noticeably, this trim came with a leather interior and booming sound system.

The Oldsmobile Alero was quite a successful model for the brand, likely why the model saw very few design changes over the years. Had Oldsmobile continued production, the Alero would likely have continued to be a desirable model.

If you drive an Alero, then you likely appreciate the excellent combination of power, sporty handling, and great gas mileage that it offers you. These are all great aspects that can make you truly love a vehicle. You can express your appreciation through regular use of an Oldsmobile Alero service manual. Quickly change out fluids, repair worn parts, and keep your Alero sporty as ever!
