The Mazda Corporation is known for its commitment to the manufacturing of compact vehicles. The company has also always been devoted to producing cars that combine performance and innovation at an affordable price, and all over the world. The Mazda 6 is the company’s current midsize model and Mazda 6 service manuals are helping owners and technicians to maintain these popular cars.
Launched in 2002, the first generation Mazda 6 replaced the 626 model and was offered in two body styles sedan or hatchback. Engine displacement ranged from 1.8 to 3.0 and also included a diesel variant. Transmission options included 4-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic, 6-speed automatic, 5-speed manual, and a 6-speed manual too, which was a milestone for Mazda. Starting in 2005, Mazda began sales of the Mazdaspeed6, a high-performance version of the Mazda 6 that is offered with a turbocharged 2.3L inline 4 engine. Again, another great milestone for Mazda.
In 2007, Mazda introduced the second generation Mazda 6 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. In addition to being wider and longer than the previous generation, the new Mazda 6 also received a redesigned exterior and updated interior. Engine displacement varied from 1.8 to 3.7 with two diesel options available as well. Transmissions options offered with the second generation included a 5-speed automatic, 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
In 2009, the hatchback model was removed from the North American market. 2012 saw the last Mazda 6 produced in the United States, all further models were to be produced in Japan.
The third and current generation Mazda 6 was introduced to the world in 2012. The sedan was unveiled at the Moscow International Automobile Salon while the hatchback was presented at the Paris Motor Show. The third generation variant got rid of the MZR engine and replaced it with Mazda’s proprietary SkyActiv technology which made great headway among the automotive industry. Engine displacements for this generation have included 2.0, 2.2, and 2.5L paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6 speed automatic.
The Mazda 6 has been one of the most popular automobiles ever produced by Mazda. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, more and more owners of these internationally recognized vehicles anticipate what is next. However, while the 6 is still around, owners can have their vehicles repaired using a Mazda 6 repair manual which provides guidance so that these vehicles can be properly maintained.
