Isuzu is perhaps best known for its Rodeo. This pickup truck has undergone some changes over its lifespan. If you are a fan of Isuzu, you might own this iconic vehicle. If you do own the Isuzu Rodeo, be sure to purchase the Isuzu Rodeo repair manual to go along with it.

Generally speaking, the name Rodeo was used by Isuzu for vehicles between 1988-2004. In Japan the Isuzu Rodeo was manufactured and sold as a smaller size pick-up truck. Isuzu North America sold the Isuzu Rodeo as a mid sized SUV.

Before being sold as a pick-up truck in Japan, the Rodeo was used as a model pick-up truck with rear wheel drive in Japan. This original use of the name Rodeo started in 1978. This original 4-wheel drive pick-up truck went through 2 generations being called “Isuzu Faster Rodeo” before the name was made to just be “Isuzu Rodeo”. The Isuzu Rodeo name applied to the 4 wheel drive models.

In Japan in 1981, Isuzu debuted the Isuzu Bighorn Rodeo. Eventually, the name was shortened to just Isuzu Bighorn. Outside of Japan, this vehicle is known as the Isuzu Trooper.

Back in North America, Isuzu debuted the North American version of the Isuzu Rodeo in the model year 1991. This vehicle was marketed as a 5 door SUV. In Japan, this same version was called the Isuzu Wizard.

Interestingly, Isuzu offered a 3 door version of the Rodeo in North America. This vehicle was called the Isuzu Amigo. In Japan, the 3 door version was called the Isuzu MU.

In the model year 1998, the second generation was released. The 3 door version, the Isuzu Amigo, became known as the Isuzu Rodeo Sport.

By 2004, production of both the Isuzu Rodeo and the Isuzu Rodeo Sport had ended.

After production had ended, a slightly changed version of the Isuzu Rodeo was sold in the United States as the Honda Passport.

Many car collectors enjoy collecting Isuzu vehicles. They are a great addition to any collection and enjoy a fan following. This is a great car for enthusiasts to enjoy working on at home.
