The CitroŽn Relay is a light commercial vehicle produced by CitroŽn, the French auto manufacturer. Itís been sold internationally under both the Fiat and CitroŽn names, since it is a joint venture between PSA Peugeot CitroŽn and Fiat developed in 1981. Besides CitroŽn Relay, the auto has also been known as the CitroŽn Jumper, the Peugeot Boxer, and the Ram ProMaster. The CitroŽn Relay workshop manual covers models sold under any of these names, as it is all the same vehicle.

It features a front-engine, front-wheel drive chassis layout in all iterations. In the first generation, the CitroŽn Relay featured a choice of petrol, diesel, or turbo diesel engines. The petrol engine was available as 1.8L or 2.0L I4; while the diesel was available in 1.9 L or 2.5 L I4 configurations. Finally, the turbo diesel engine was available in 1.9 L and 2.5 L I4. All versions of the engine came equipped with a 43 kW electric motor.

The second generation of the Relay was produced between 1993 and 2006, although it did receive a resurgence in Brazil between 1998 and 2018. This generation was also sold as the Peugeot Boxer, and as the Peugeot Manager in Mexico only. It came in a choice of a three-door van, a 4-door van, or a 2-door pickup body style, with a choice of petrol, diesel, and turbo diesel engines similar to the first generation. Transmission choices included 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.

In the second generation, the Relay also received a facelift. The new body was restyled with new molding, a new front grille, and a slightly revamped body. More importantly, the facelift included programmed maintenance management, as well as a range of new model designations, including a 1-ton, 1.4-ton, and 1.8-ton designation for wider commercial use. Body configurations included the cargo van and the window van.

By December 2005, over three million CitroŽn Relays had been produced. The companyís response was to increase manufacturing with two new plants: one in Brazil and one in Russia, boosting total production by three vehicles daily. As a result, the Relay is still one of the most-used light commercial vehicles in the UK, and itís exceedingly common elsewhere internationally as well.
