The Chevrolet C5 Corvette was the 5th generation model of the Corvette. The Chevy C5 was a stylish sport coupe that was affordable to the average person. Although the Corvette originally debuted in 1952, the Chevy C5 Corvette first came out in 1997, and made some big improvements from its 4th generation predecessor. The new model featured improved handling, a rear-mounted transmission, and an all new LS1 engine.

The structure of the C5 was also much different than other Corvette models. It had balsa wood incorporated in the floors, an extended wheelbase, and it was slightly taller than other models. The first C5 model came out in red, black, silver and white.

Ringing in the new millennium in 2000, the C5 was updated with a more futuristic look, with new colors available. It still had a sleek, modern design but now you could now get the Chevy C5 in Millennium Yellow and Dark Bowling Green Metallic.

2003 was the 50th anniversary of the Corvette, so all of the C5s this year featured the 50th Anniversary emblem. That was an important mark for the C5 Corvette. 2004 was the last year for this model before the next generation came out.
